課程概述 |
This course will provide an introduction and broad background on the assessment, phenomenology, and theorized causes of psychological disorders. Students will learn the classification system used in the DSM-5, as well as etiological and treatment related information. During this course, students will be responsible for learning basic descriptive psychopathology as well as emerging brain-based markers of mental disorders. |
課程目標 |
The course is designed to meet the following Psychology learning outcomes:
1. Knowledge Base of Psychology: Students will demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology.
2. Critical Thinking Skills in Psychology: Students will respect and use critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry, and, when possible, the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes.
3. Application of Psychology: Students will understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social, and organizational issues.
4. Values in Psychology: Students will be able to weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, act ethically, and reflect other values that are the underpinnings of psychology as a discipline.
5. Personal Development: Students will develop insight into their own and others’ behavior and mental processes and apply effective strategies for self-management and self-improvement.

The in-class knowledge checks are designed to assess your knowledge of content covered in class lectures and textbook readings. Throughout the semester five in-class knowledge checks will randomly occur during class time. No announcement will be made about the dates. Each in-class knowledge check will consist of two questions worth two points each. No make-up knowledge checks will be given. No Exceptions! |
